During the ceremony, the 22-year-old singer was presented an award for his Outstanding Contribution to Music. Though he told the audience he's "not really a guy of many words," Malik did take the opportunity to pay a heartfelt tribute to his bandmates, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne.
"I'd also like to take this moment to thank four of the best guys that I ever met whilst being in the band and doing all the amazing things that I did," Malik said. "Some of the things that we did will stay with me for the rest of my life. And I thank you for that."
