NBC is moving forward with its Heroes event series, Heroes Reborn, but one major original cast member won't be participating.

Zachary Quinto, who played villain Sylar in the original series, tells BuzzFeed that he declined an offer from creator Tim Kring to return for the reboot.

"It was such a meaningful experience for me," Quinto told BuzzFeed. "I loved that job. I loved those people. ... I just felt like I didn't want to go back to it. Tim was very, very understanding."

NBC recently announced that Zachary Levi has joined the miniseries in a leading role, but details about his character are being closely guarded.

As previously reported, original cast member Jack Coleman will reprise his role as HRG, but Hayden Panettiere will not be featured in the event series.

The 13 episodes of Heroes Reborn are scheduled to air later this year.
