The Young and the Restlessstar Jeanne Cooper has been hospitalized for an undisclosed illness, according to CBS

Cooper, 84, has reportedly been in critical condition, but it's unclear when she was taken to the hospital. On Friday night, Cooper's son, Psych's Corbin Bernsen, asked for prayers for his mother on his Facebook page.

"Won't elaborate now, but I believe there's still more purpose for her on this journey, but that's not my call," he wrote. "I love her so much. I want peace for her. I hope this is OK to share with all of you who know and love her."

Fall TV Scorecard: Renewed or canceled?

On Saturday, it seemed things may be getting slightly better, with Bernsen tweeting, "Keep those thoughts and powerful prayers coming. I'm witnessing extraordinary will. I know it's fueled by your love." He followed that up on Sunday with another tweet that seemed to indicate she was on the road to recovery. "Back from hospital, not much change for mom but heading in the right direction. Embracing small steps and signs toward recovery. Wow!"

Cooper, who has played Katherine Chancellor on the CBS soap since 1973, has earned two Daytime Emmys and 10 Daytime Emmy nominations, along with two Primetime Emmy nominations during her career.
