Once Game of Thrones is over next month, Yellowstone is going to try to take its place among people who watched it for the palace intrigue. The neo-Western soap opera — cable's biggest new show of 2018 — is back for Season 2 this summer, and its trailer doubles down on the Game of Thrones vibes, elevating squabbles over the family business to epic proportions over an ominous score that sounds like Trent Reznor meets Hans Zimmer.

Kevin Costner returns as rancher John Dutton, whose ocean of grass is threatened on all sides. "I run this valley," he growls. "And there's a war coming." The main challenger to the throne is his exiled son Jamie (Wes Bentley), who's teaming up with local Native American chief Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) to come for his land.

The series comes from Taylor Sheridan, who wrote and directed every episode of Season 1 and is back behind the camera for Season 2. Expect more beautiful, rugged cinematography and barbed dialogue spat by a talented cast.

Yellowstone Season 2 premieres Wednesday, June 19 at 10/9c on the Paramount Network.
