Where have all the cowboys gone? Why, to Montana, of course, for Season 2 of Yellowstone. The Paramount Network has renewed the modern Western for a second season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Kevin Costner-led drama, which is in the midst of its first season, is the top-rated new cable series of 2018, and is cable's most-watched series behind only The Walking Dead, averaging 5 million total viewers per episode. It's an auspicious start for the still-new Paramount Network's flagship show. The season finale will air Aug. 22.

Yellowstone was created by Sicario screenwriter Taylor Sheridan and follows rancher John Dutton (Costner) and his family as they try to protect their regional dominance from a Native American tribe, the federal government and real estate developers while keeping their own lives together.

Season 2 will go into production soon for a 2019 premiere.

Yellowstone airs Wednesdays at 10/9c on Yellowstone.
