Edinson Cavani scored the opening goal and the winner in the second half, earning him Man of the Match honors, and moving his team on to face France in the quarterfinals. France had a much-needed burst of offense against Argentina, winning an exciting game 4-3. After scoring their first goal on a penalty, France went down 2-1, then came storming back to finish the game up a goal, and on to the quarterfinals. France doubled the score of their tournament high when they scored two in their opening game against Australia.
