We're living in a time of too much TV, where we're constantly being faced with a plethora of new shows vying for our attention on top of the many already on the air, and it can be overwhelming. In fact, it makes it harder to choose which shows are worth the time and effort of keeping up with over the course of a season. But in the midst of all these new fall premieres, there is one show you should definitely carve out time for: All American, which heads to The CW on Wednesday. According to the show's stars, it'll be worth the effort — and we have to agree.
"All American is one of the best shows you could ever watch," said Jalyn Hall, whose abundance of cuteness alone makes a strong case for tuning in each week.
The show is loosely based on the life of pro footballer Spencer Paysinger who transferred from a school in South Los Angeles to Beverly Hills before going on to play in the NFL. It's an authentic rags-to-riches story with universal issues that everyone can relate to. "It's a show about identity and family and love and friendship and romance," explained Daniel Ezra, who stars as the fictionalized Spencer James. "There' something for everyone. "
"You're gonna want to watch every episode," added Samantha Logan. "It's literally a mini-movie every week."
If you're not enticed by this charming cast — which also includes Taye Diggs — or its compelling story, I don't know what to tell you.
All American premieres Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 9/8c on The CW.
(Full disclosure: TV Guide is owned by CBS, one of The CW's parent companies)
