Watercooler: A Pretty Little Addiction

I am so powerless over Pretty Little Liars. And admitting that is the first step, right? Glossy, glammy and silly enough to make you roll your eyes while being reeled in, last night's opener was like crack, cut with Gossip Girl and soaked in I Know What You Did Last Summer. Love the cast. (Yay, Lucy Hale!)

(Yay, Lucy Hale!) Love the prep-schoolers-behaving-badly clichés. Love the fact that Chad Lowe and Holly Marie Combs are playing parents...and messed up ones, no less! Not surprisingly, PLL is based on a series of YA novels from Alloy Entertainment, the folks behind Gossip Girl and The Vampire Diaries, since it bears the same addictive allure as those juicy little teen dramas, without all the headbands and blood. Although we're pretty sure there will be blood by the time we find out who is stalking our four leading ladies—those text-messages and notes from their supposedly dead friend aren't exactly "whassup!," you know? The only thing we don't know is who their nasty pen pal is. The new lesbian in town? The creepy cop getting up on Sydney from Melrose Place? Nia Peeples? So many suspects! So many secrets! So many reasons to keep watching!
