The lights aren't out for Lights Outexecutive producer Warren Leight, who is in talks to return to the Law & Orderfranchise as an executive producer and showrunner on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Deadline.com reports.  

FX cancels Lights Out

Leight, whose FX series was just given the axe, will succeed Neal Baer, who is stepping down after 11 years on SVU. He recently signed a three-year overall deal with CBS TV Studios.

Before Lights Out, Leight ran Law & Order: Criminal Intent before leaving for HBO's In Treatment.

SVU has seen ratings for Season 12 slide slightly. The show averages 8.7 million viewer, down a bit from last season's 9 million. At its peak, the show drew 17 million in Season 2.

NBC has not announced whether SVU will return for Season 13. Stars Mariska Hargitay and Chris Meloni are reportedly in contract negotiations, according to Deadline.
