VIDEO: Gov. Sanford Admits to Affair

After disappearing for a week, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford resurfaced just in time to hold a press conference Wednesday at which he admitted that he had secretly flown to Argentina to see a woman with whom he'd been having an affair. Sanford apologized to his family and announced that he will resign as head of the Republican Governors Association. "I've let down a lot of people; that's the bottom line," said Sanford. The 49-year-old governor revealed that the woman in Argentina started out as a "dear, dear friend," but the relationship took a romantic turn a little over a year ago. Sanford's staff released a statement earlier in the week saying the govenor was taking some time away to "recharge" after a tough legislative session. Watch the conference after the jump.
