This Monday at 9 pm/ET, Chad Michael Murray's vision becomes a reality, as the episode of One Tree Hill which he wrote comes to your screen. Though the original hope to film in black-and-white did not come to be, he maintains, "It is a stunning, stunning episode."

In this video, in addition to many clips of the Tree Hill gang guys-and-dolled up, Chad details how the idea to situate the show's characters in the 1940s came to be. (His original, quickly rebuffed presentation to series creator Mark Schwahn involved a riff on Hunter S. Thompson's Fear and Loathing and revolved around Lucas' mom being coked out in the kitchen!) After some retooling, he came up with "We Three (My Echo, My Shadow and Me)," a World War II-era, Casablanca-reminiscent episode in which Karen's Café is transformed into a nightclub run by Lucas.

"I'm not going to lie — there are some great, cheesy moments. Clichéd 1940s stuff," Chad admits. "But I wanted it that way.... I had to go for it."

Also in this video: Murray gives props to one particular cast member who "really brought it" for this special installment (at the 3;15 mark), and he previews the episode he will be directing (3:30) and what it has in common with this season's Episode 7.
