The Veronica Mars Cast Reacts to the Movie's 8 Biggest Moments

Alright, marshmallows, we waited seven years for this — and it was worth every frakking second!

The Veronica Mars movie was filled with all the secrets, romance and yes, even murder, that we've come to expect from the franchise. But how did the cast feel about some of the film's biggest twists? TVGuide.com spoke to the stars and creator Rob Thomas at the New York City premiere to weigh in on where Veronica (Kristen Bell) ended up, who she ended up with and more.

8. The boys brawl over Veronica's honor: For the men of Neptune, choosing a favorite scene was easy: the big fight at the reunion. "It was the only scene I've ever worked with all these guys," Chris Lowell explains. "I've never had scenes with them before so it was a blast and we were all kind of in the same scene, which rarely happens."

For fans of the show, the scene was also a nice throwback to Season 3, when Logan first saw Veronica and Piz's sex tape and began assaulting Piz in the cafeteria. But even though Veronica's beaus might be on the same side for once, some things never change. "I still somehow get punched in the face," Lowell muses. "It just never ends."

7. Mac's new gig: Mac (Tina Majorino) wasn't just helping out a friend in the film's closing scene. The tech genius has gone P.I. full time. "She is leaving Kane Software to come and work for Veronica. In fact, as we pick up in the book, Veronica is trying to figure out if she can keep paying Mac. That's one of the things that's weighing heavily on her as the book begins," Thomas says, referencing the upcoming novel The Thousand-Dollar Tan Line (out March 25), which picks up after the events of the film.

6. The new Logan Echolls: "I think he's probably the character's that changed the most since he's sort of found some more discipline in his life with regard to the military and the Navy background. [It's] cool that Rob wrote that since he was going downhill for so long and then he sort of rights the ship, which leaves him [poised] again to go off the deep end, which is where I like to be, really," Jason Dohring says.

But hopefully Logan doesn't revert too much to his old ways, because it seems the former playboy's new responsible attitude might finally win over Veronica's father. "Anybody's who's seen the movie will know that maybe Keith will change his mind because Logan's stepping up pretty good," Enrico Colantoni says. "I'll have him wrapped around my finger, right where I want him," Dohring jokes.

But as much as Logan's changed, it's nice to see he hasn't completely forgotten his roots. His BFF Dick Casablancas remains firmly planted at his side. "I think Logan still needs Dick in order for him maybe to forget about the bad stuff that happens," Ryan Hansen says. "So he's kind of his party buddy, his loyal puppy."

5. Keith's near-death experience: Keith's ominous warnings to Veronica to stay away from the police weren't without warrant. During a secret meeting with his informant, Deputy Sacks (Brandon Hillcock), the car the pair is talking in is repeatedly rammed. "If you knew how by-the-hair-of-our-teeth that was," Thomas says. "We're such a low-budget movie. We had one crash car. Other movies, like Fast and the Furious, they've got like eight cars lined up there to crash. We had one little cheap car and we had one shot to get it right."

Though Sacks was D.O.A. (RIP!), Logan was able to rescue Keith at the last second. And thank God, because as worried as we were for Keith, we were even more about how Veronica would respond if her father didn't survive. "If Rob ever wants to turn Veronica into a vindictive sort of demon, he would kill Keith Mars, because Keith is really the only thing that keeps her sane, honest, good," Colantoni says.

But as always, Veronica isn't going to let this attack go. As her old mantra goes, someone always has to pay and Veronica will be looking real hard at the police going forward to see if they were behind this assassination attempt.

4. Piz ends up alone — again: After Veronica fails to show up to meet Piz's parents, he finally throws in the towel and breaks up with her over the phone. So is this the end for the on-again, off-again couple? "I certainly hope not," Lowell says. "It's difficult, because I'm the biggest Logan-Veronica supporter. It's kind of like I'm writing my own will. I'm writing my own death sentence."

Thankfully, Lowell says Piz's friendship with Wallace (Percy Daggs III) "is going to keep me in the picture" no matter what. "Frankly, if I can just keep working with these people I'll be satisfied," he adds.

3. Weevil's return to the PCHers: After Sheriff Lamb planted evidence that made Weevil (Francis Capra) look as though he had provoked Mrs. Kane's attack, Eli got back with his old gang. "It's noir. It can't all be happy," Thomas explains. "I think he finds it hard to stay on the good side of that line. He had that long run, he had a wife and kid, but I think the Sheriff has shoved him over into his previous life ... there is something about Neptune that does that to people."

Veronica returns to Mars Investigations: "Well you know, we ended Season 3 in such a perilous moment and it was intentionally unsatisfying," Thomas said of the series finale, which left Veronica's love life and Keith's career up in the air. "The network asked me to wrap it up in a neat bow because they said, 'You might not be back.' But I didn't want to make it easy to cancel the show. I wanted to go down swinging. But with the movie, I wanted an ending where if we never got to see Veronica again ever, at least people would be OK with where she ended up."

So while she may have left her big-shot New York City dreams behind, "I think she's right where she's supposed to be," Percy Daggs III says. However, the one person whose opinion matters most to Veronica doesn't quite agree. "I can't help but feel for Keith because he really had high hopes for her to break that mold and come out and just be even more powerful," Colantoni says. "But if she wants to be a private eye, I'm going to help her no matter what she does and support her."

1. Logan and Veronica's "epic" goodbye:  While the weight of Logan's words might have been lost onV.Mars newbies, Dohring and Thomas knew exactly what they were getting into. Dohring even admitted to feeling some major pressure when he filmed the scene, but he fortunately had a great partner to lean on. "It's just so easy to lock in with Kristen and kind of deliver a good scene. She's my rock," Dohring says.

"You almost never think when you're doing a scene that it's going to be anything particularly over-the-top special compared to other scenes, but that one sure seemed to find a place in people's hearts," Dohring says, looking back on Logan's original epic LoVe speech. "I saw somebody who had it tattooed on her shoulder and that was the moment where I thought maybe we took that too far," Thomas recalls, before adding how proud he was of both iterations. "It was fun to bring back," the director adds.
