The defender of Gotham City may soon be the governor of New Mexico.
One-time Batman Val Kilmer is considering running for governor of the southwestern state in 2010, to succeed Gov. Bill Richardson. "I'm just looking for ways to be contributive," Kilmer tells the Associated Press. "And if that ends up being where I can make a substantial contribution, then I'll run."
The actor, who's lived in the state for more than 20 years, says he has not yet decided if he will run, but has been out and about listening to people. Should he decide to make a move for the governor's mansion, Kilmer will vie with Lt. Gov. Diane Denish for the Democratic nomination — and he's confident about his chances.
"If I run, I'm going to be the next governor," he says.
