NBC Orders Up All Night and Whitney, Cancels Playboy Club

NBC has ordered Up All Night and Whitney for full seasons, and has canceled The Playboy Club.

We're proud of all of the producers, writers, actors, and directors who have worked so hard to bring these shows to life."Up All Night, starring Christina Applegate and Will Arnett as new parents, and Whitney Cummings' eponymous sitcom have both averaged about 6 million since their premieres.The pickups follow Fox's full-season order of New Girl last week.

Parents Television Council wants more advertisers to drop Playboy Club

Meanwhile, The Playboy Club becomes the first cancellation of the new season. The drama, starring Eddie Cibrian, has struggled since its premiere, averaging about 3 million viewers. Last week, the Parents Television Council urged sponsors to pull out of the show and called for NBC to cancel the "degrading and sexualizing program immediately."NBC will air reruns of new drama Prime Suspect in Playboy's Mondays-at-10 berth until Brian Williams' newsmagazine show, Rock Center, debuts in the slot on Oct. 31.
