John Legend is an executive producer for the thriller about runaway slaves.
On Monday WGN America announced a March 9 premiere date for its new series Underground, an escape thriller about the Underground Railroad. The network released two teasers, one of which is soundtracked by Kanye West's "Black Skinhead."
Underground stars Straight Outta Compton's Aldis Hodge as Noah, a slave who secretly organizes a group of fellow slaves and mounts a plan to escape the plantation. The cast also includes Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Christopher Meloni, and Mykelti Williamson.
Underground was created by former Sons of Anarchy writer Misha Green and veteran Heroes, CSI, and Daredevil producer Joe Pokaski. Executive producers include two Academy Award winners in singer John Legend and screenwriter Akiva Goldsman.
