Tyler Perry is Developing TLC's First Scripted Drama

After years of reality series, TLC is finally getting into the scripted game. Tyler Perry will write, direct and executive produce a new 8-episode drama, Too Close to Home.

According to Variety, Too Close to Home follows a young woman who escaped her working-class upbringing to make it big in the D.C. political circuit, only to find herself at the heart of a scandal. After an affair with a married senator causes a national furor, she goes back to her trailer park roots where her past comes full circle.

The Passion: A misfire of biblical proportions.

No official premiere date or casting announcements have been made, but the network did say the series would make it to television screens this year.
