TV Land is rebooting Candid Camera, the hidden-camera series that pioneered the format, paving the way for contemporary hidden-camera shows like MTV's Punk'd and Lifetime's Betty White's Off Their Rockers.

Candid Camera creator and original host Allen Funt first began pranking people on TV for our enjoyment back in 1948. The show — famous for its tagline of "Smile, you're on Candid Camera!" — has existed in several different incarnations and aired on various networks since then, most recently on the Pax Network (which is now Ion Television).

Lifetime Revives Betty White's Off Their Rockers

TV Land has ordered 10 episodes of this latest Candid Camera revival, which it plans to air this summer. Allen Funt's son Peter, who co-hosted the series in the 1980s and '90s, will serve as co-executive producer alongside former NBC boss Ben Silverman. The network will announce a host at a later date.

Are you excited for the new Candid Camera? Who do you think would be a good host?
