Former Food Network host Juan Carlos Cruz pleaded no contest Tuesday to a charge that he hired two men in a failed attempt to kill his wife, according to The Associated Press.
The 48-year-old, who hosted Calorie Commando from 2004 to 2006, faces nine years in state prison. Prosecutors plan to dismiss a remaining count of attempted murder, according to the AP.
Former TV chef pleads not guilty to attempted murder charges
Cruz was arrested in May after a homeless man contacted the police and said that Cruz had tried to hire him to kill his wife, a 47-year-old lawyer. He initially plead not guilty to the charges.
Cruz will be sentenced on Dec. 13.
