Top Chef crowned its latest winner Wednesday night. Taking home the title of Top Chef: New Orleans — and $125,000 to boot — was Philadelphia's Nicholas Elmi.

Nicholas, whose food was often criticized for being underseasoned  and sometimes clashed with fellow competitors, went head-to-head with Nina Compton in the finale. The judges were divided on the meals each contestant whipped up, with Hugh Acheson loving Nina's orechiette, and Tom Colicchio salivating over Nicholas' duck.

Despite an awkward moment where the judges could hear Nicholas screaming at the staff in the kitchen, they ultimately decided to give him the top prize. Nina didn't walk away completely empty handed, however. On Watch What Happens Live, host Andy Cohen revealed that Nina was this season's fan-favorite chef. She was awarded $10,000 to go along with the bragging rights.

Elmi opened his French-influenced restaurant Laurel in November, a month after the season wrapped.

Do you think Nicholas deserved to win?
