Christmas in Rockefeller Center

8/7c NBC
What's green all over, weighs 12 tons, is 74 feet high and is 40 feet in diameter? It could only be the famed Rockefeller Christmas tree. This holiday special branches out when Natalie Morales and Al Roker host the 78th annual lighting of the tree in Manhattan. Adding glow and twinkle to the proceedings are performances of timeless holiday songs and current hits. Among the selection of slated singers: Mariah Carey, Sheryl Crow, Josh Groban, Jessica Simpson, Susan Boyle, Annie Lennox, Katherine Jenkins, Charice, Kylie Minogue and Jackie Evancho. — Dean Maurer
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
8/7c CBS
The beloved Rankin-Bass chestnut — it was first telecast in 1964 — about the famous reindeer with the glowing red nose makes its annual broadcast appearance. Not the least of its many qualities is one of the greatest holiday soundtracks ever, with classics such as "Holly Jolly Christmas," "We're a Couple of Misfits," "There's Always Tomorrow" and, of course, the title tune. — Tim Holland

Shrek the Halls

8:30/7:30c ABC
In this 2007 holiday special, the green guy is preparing to celebrate his expanded family's first Christmas, but that doesn't mean he's softening up. In fact, visits by Donkey, Puss in Boots, and Gingy soon spiral this celebration totally out of control, leaving Shrek none too merry. With the same voice cast from the movies (including Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy and Antonio Banderas), this top-notch production is a welcome Yuletide treat.
Raising Hope
9:01/8:01c Fox
Talk about getting the band back together. Jason Lee reunites with My Name Is Earl creator Greg Garcia on the latter's new sitcom in an episode that turns the local market into a hard-rock café. Lee plays Smokey Floyd, the former front man for a 1980s heavy-metal hair-band who was Burt's idol back when he wanted to be a rock star. But Burt had to give up his dream when Jimmy was born, and now the younger Chance tries to make amends by pairing his dad with Smokey at the Grocery-Palooza concert. — Joe Friedrich

Strange Days with Bob Saget
10/9c A&E Bob Saget has always had an everyman kind of appeal. The actor-host-comedian often comes across a friend you know, and not one generally given to extremes. Which makes it an interesting idea to have him explore the fringes of America's subcultures in this new reality series. The other appeal of the series is that he's not just an observer: He immerses himself in his subjects to get the real experience. In the opener, he's biker Bob, traveling with the Iron Order Motorcycle Club and riding in a sidecar from Kentucky to Florida. — Bill Ecklund
Victoria's Secret Fashion Show10/9c CBS "A Night of a Thousand Fantasies" is the theme for this year's lingerie showcase in which barely clothed supermodels, including Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Candice Swanepoel, Chanel Iman, Erin Heatherton, Lily Aldridge and Behati Prinsloo, take to the runway to strut the company's latest goods. The hour is divided into six fantasy sections, beginning with "Tough Love." Other styles include "Country Girls," "Heavenly Bodies" and "Wild Things." This year's musical performers are Akon and Katy Perry. CSI: Miami star Adam Rodriguez presides over the evening as Vic, a hip nightclub owner who welcomes guests to "Club Victoria" for the hottest show in town. — Tim Holland
