Lying to Be Perfect
9/8c Lifetime
Based on Sarah Strohmeyer's book The Cinderella Pact, this 2010 cable movie features Poppy Montgomery as Nola Devlin, a plain Jane magazine editor pulling double duty as anonymous online columnist Belinda Apple. She develops a rabid following dispensing makeover tips to her buddies and a group of her unfriendly coworkers. But when her true identity is nearly exposed, Nola is forced to follow her alter ego's advice. — Rhoda Charles
Saturday Night Live
11:29/10:29c NBC
NBC's night-owl spoofers hoot it up — and Hamm it up — when the series kicks off an arc of new shows with actor Jon Hamm returning for his second hosting duty at Studio 8H. The Mad Men star will help the live-wire SNL players bust through the headlines and trounce the week's political and pop-cultural happenings. Tempering this unabashed comic assault is crooner Michael Bublé, who takes to the music stage and offers his jazzy reimagining of the pop-standard genre. — Dean Maurer
Demons
9/8c BBC America
Poor Luke Rutherford can't catch a break. First his life is turned upside down when he finds out that it's his destiny to be a demon hunter, and now his love life is suffering, too. He falls for a seemingly nice girl (Laura Alkman), but Mina and Galvin have a bad feeling about her. While it is possible that they're just being overprotective, it's also possible that she's more half-life than human, especially when a strange murder occurs in the capital around the same time she arrives in town. — Karen Andzejewicz
Meteor Storm
9/8c Syfy
San Francisco — home to the 49ers, the Golden Gate Bridge, the famously crooked Lombard Street and, now, numerous meteor strikes. City official Michael Trucco (Starbuck's Cylon hubby Sam Anders from Battlestar Galactica) tries to evacuate the residents while Invasion and 24 vet Kari Matchett tries to save the rest of us in this death-from-above disaster flick. — Michael Chant
