Tommy Ramone Dies at 65
Tommy Ramone, the drummer, co-founder and last surviving original member of the seminal punk band the Ramones, has died, The Washington Post reports. He was 65. Dave Frey, who works for Ramones Productions, confirmed that Ramone died Friday, but he did not have additional details about the musician's death.

Born Erdelyi Tamas, Ramone took on the iconic last name when he formed the group in 1974 New York along with singer Joey Ramone, bassist Dee Dee Ramone and guitarist Johnny Ramone.
The group released their debut album in 1976 but struggled for commercial success. After two more albums, Ramone left the band, but returned to produce the 1984 collection Too Tough to Die. The Ramones disbanded for good in 1996 and released a live farewell tour album, We're Outta Here!, the following year.
The Ramones never found huge commercial success, but their breakneck style and songs like "I Wanna Be Sedated" and "Blitzkrieg Bop" influenced generations of musicians, from Nirvana to Bruce Springsteen. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
