Tom Cruise Likely to Return for Top Gun 2!

Thirty years after he first put on those aviators, Tom Cruise may return as Maverick for the long-awaited sequel to Top Gun, Collider reports.

During a press junket for Terminator Genisys, Skydance CEO David Ellison and CCO Dana Goldberg revealed details about Top Gun 2, which is currently in development.

"There is an amazing role for Maverick in the movie and there is no Top Gun without Maverick, and it is going to be Maverick playing Maverick," Ellison said.

Justin Marks (Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li) is writing the screenplay, which will take on the end of fighter pilots in the wake of drones.

"It is I don't think what people are going to expect, and we are very, very hopeful that we get to make the movie very soon," Ellison added. "But like all things, it all comes down to the script, and Justin is writing as we speak."
