Todd Chrisley had to set the record straight about his sexuality even before his hit USA reality show debuted, and at Monday's Television Critics Association's fall previews, he had to address the rumors once again.

"Today, I am not gay," the Chrisley Knows Best star told reporters.

The father of five (and grandfather) also addressed just why he decided to respond to the rumors head-on in a March interview with People. "I didn't feel I had to address it," he said. "The reporter asked the question and I don't feel there's a need for me to not address it."

"I don't believe that being gay is something that you should be ashamed of. I don't believe it's something you should hide," he continued. "If I wanted to date someone, I would call you and I would ask you go to dinner with me. But right now, I'm very content in my life with where I am."

Chrisley acknowledged that "social media has been difficult at times" in the wake of the reality show's success and subsequent Season 2 renewal. "I think that we certainly are a little bit more observant and aware," Chrisley said, specifically noting the feedback received when several of members of the family were shown texting and driving.

But Chrisley promises that Season 2, which will see son Chase turn 18 and daughter Savannah go on her first date, will not be that censored. "I think we try to maintain the same level of family and doing what we do every day and not worrying about the cameras," Chrisley said.

Added his wife Julie: "It's impossible to be guarded or watch everything that you saw or do, when we're all together especially."

If anything, Todd stressed the importance of being honest with viewers. "We signed up for this, so again, you have the right to see what we signed up for," he said.

Executive producer Stephanie Bloch Chambers said it's the candid nature of the Chrisley family that is the not-so-secret secret to the show's success. "The honesty of this family creates a lot of humor," she said.

Chrisley Knows Best returns for Season 2 this fall on USA.
