Timeless, a new show created by The Shield's Shawn Ryan and Supernatural's Eric Kripke, has been ordered to series by NBC.

The show follows a mysterious criminal played by Goran Visnjic (ER), who steals a secret machine with the intention of destroying present-day America by changing the past. Now, the fate of the country rests entirely in the hands of Malcolm Barrett (Better Off Ted), a solider played by Matt Lanter (90210) and a history professor played by Abigail Spencer (Rectify).

Timeless follows similar "saving America" themes in Kripke's previous NBC series, Revolution. Timeless is expected to be a big drama push at the network this year, possibly getting the coveted post-The Voiceslot on Mondays that helped make the success of The Blacklist and Blindspot.
