Tim Conway, Star of The Carol Burnett Show, Dead at 85

Comedic actor Tim Conway has passed away at the age of 85.

People reports that the actor, who was perhaps best known for his work inThe Carol Burnett Showin the mid '70s, passed away on Tuesday from complications associated with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus.

Conway got his start in television back in the early '60s, earning a regular role on McHale's Navyas Ensign Charles Parker. Soon after that series came to an end, he earned the title role in the short-lived western comedy series Rango and went on to star in his own comedy series titledThe Tim Comway Showbefore again nabbing the eponymous lead inAce Crawford, Private Eye. It was his work in Carol Burnett's variety show that really stood out, however, as he earned a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in the series as well as several Primetime Emmys. Conway would later reunite with the actress in the TV Land seriesHot in Cleveland in 2013.

Conway would also enjoy memorable guest roles in series like Married ... with Children and Yes, Dear, along with voicing Barnacle Boy in SpongeBob SquarePants. Conway added two additional Emmys to his substantial trophy collection in 1996 and 2008 for his supporting roles as Kenny inCoach and Bucky Bright in 30 Rock.

Of his long-lived career in showbusiness, Conway once said, "I don't feature myself as being the head man. I would much rather stand in the background and make small funny things than be up at the head of the class."

The actor is survived by his wife, children, and two grandchildren.
