It's been a while since Arrested Development's fourth season Netflix revival with a follow-up season not on the horizon — and now we possibly know why.
To actually make the fourth season a reality, the episodes had to be shot on a weird schedule that only required certain actors to be around at any given moment. Astute viewers will note the Netflix episodes featured very few scenes with the entire family in the location together. That's what the show is looking to change in a new season.
During a Facebook Live segment for Huffington Post, Tony Hale stated that the producers looking to have everyone be in the same room for the new season is what's holding production. "To be honest, I miss that," said the actor, "I miss working across from Gob or working across from Lucille or Tobias."
Hale did confirm everyone is on board for another season. "I know for a fact that everyone wants to do it," he said, which is a good sign. However, everyone involved in the show has gone on to become such a huge star in their own right that lining up schedules is a lot harder than one might expect. Every member of the cast has other projects, including films and other TV shows the demand their time. It will take a lot of work to find a time where everyone is available to film scenes together.
