This Is Us has officially been renewed for another season, and then another two seasons after that! NBC announced the news on Sunday during the network's Upfronts conference call that the family drama will return for its fourth season this fall, and then will continue through Season 6.

The renewal comes as no great surprise, as This Is Us remains NBC's No. 1 rated drama and executive producers Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger told Deadline earlier this year the show has a six-season plan. The renewal confirms that the show will have time to commit to Dan Fogelman's master plan for the series -- though the network has stressed that the sixth season won't necessarily be the last. Each of the next three seasons will consist of 18 episodes.

Season 4 will have to answer a lot of questions set up by the Season 3 finale, including those surrounding Rebecca's (Mandy Moore) condition, how Kevin (Justin Hartley) becomes a father, and why Toby (Chris Sullivan) and Kate (Chrissy Metz) aren't together in the future.

Aptaker and Berger also teased new characters in Season 4 who will really shake things up for the Pearson clan as the second half of the story begins. The new faces will replace those who are leaving, like Melanie Liburd's Zoe, who will no longer be a series regular in Season 4.
