The Walking Dead unveiled the official trailer for Season 7 during the series' panel at San Diego Comic Con on Friday, finally answering the question "what are they even going to show in the trailer, what with all the secrecy?" Well, now we finally know. Check it out above.
In the Season 6 finale, new villain Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) killed a main character with a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire by way of introducing himself. Was it Glenn (Steven Yeun)? Maggie (Lauren Cohan)? Abraham (Michael Cudlitz)? Someone else? Well, the trailer doesn't reveal who it was, so we're going to have to wait a little longer.
What we do see in the three-minute clip is Negan's game of eeny-meeny-miny-moe with his potential victims. He points to their faces with their bat while old clips from each of them in happier times plays. Then there long shots of him bringing the bat down and a close-up of blood dripping off the bat.
Then it's on to actual Season 7 footage, where we see our first glimpses of the Saviors' compound and the Kingdom, another colony whose armor-clad residents are presided over by Ezekiel — whom it was just announced is played by Khary Payton — and his pet tiger Shiva, both of whom are seen for the first time in the trailer. There are also updates on Tara (Alanna Masterson) and Heath (Corey Hawkins). And of course, plenty of walker action.
The Walking Dead is going to extreme lengths to protect Season 7 spoilers from leaking, including shooting death scenes for all 11 of Negan's potential victims.
The Walking Dead also announced an October 23 premiere date for Season 7 during the panel.
