I wouldn't have pegged John Cleese as a fan of The Walking Dead, but apparently he's such an expert he recapped Seasons 1-6 of the horror drama for folks who need a refresher before the Season 7 premiere this Sunday (October 23).
The iconic comedian recorded a recap promo for British Fox and streaming service Now TV that runs down the major points of the first six seasons, while imparting important lessons about how to get along in post-apocalyptic America ("Lesson 3: Never look at the flowers"). It hits the sweet spot of entertaining and informative.
So there you have it: the link between The Walking Dead and Monty Python's Flying Circus you never knew you were looking for.
P.S. I'm still not convinced John Cleese is a fan of The Walking Dead, but I am convinced that he's incredible at reading a script and sounding like he knows what he's talking about when he really has no idea. Playing authoritative nitwits has always been a strength of his, and he has been acting for more than 50 years, after all.
