VIDEO: Elena Struggles to Cope in The Vampire Diaries' First Season 6 Trailer

Uh-oh! The first trailer for Season 6 of The Vampire Diaries is here and things aren't looking so good for our favorite vamps.

Of course, that's par for the course in Mystic Falls—or should we say Mystic Falls-adjacent, now that magic no longer works within the town limits? Whatever. Either way, Elena and Co. will certainly be struggling when the series returns on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 8/7c.

In the new trailer released Friday, it appears that everyone is attempting to cope with the loss of Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) after the Other Side collapsed in the Season 5 finale.

Stefan (Paul Wesley) appears to have given up hope that his brother can be saved, Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) is drinking as a way to dull the pain of losing his girlfriend, and as for Elena (Nina Dobrev), well, she's apparently taken up drugs. Though we're not too surprised she's gone down this path, given that she probably missed all those "Hugs Not Drugs" seminars because she rarely attended high school.
