Kat McNamara Joins The Stand's Sprawling Cast

The Shadowhunters star joins Whoopi Goldberg and Alexander Skarsgard, among others

The cast of CBS All Access' adaptation of The Stand just got even more stacked. The streaming series has now added Kat McNamara (Shadowhunters, Arrow), Eion Bailey (Once Upon a Time), and Hamish Linklater (Legion) to the list of those stars who'll appear in the limited series based on Stephen King's novel.

McNamara will portray Julie Lawry, a woman who hooks up with Nat Wolff's Lloyd Henreid in Las Vegas, while Bailey will portray Teddy Weizak, a survivor of the superflu who part of the body crew with Owen Teague's Harold Lauder. Meanwhile, Linklater will portray Dr. Ellis, an infectious disease specialist with the military who wants to cure the epidemic that's infected the world.

The trio joins the already sprawling list of stars who'll appear in the series, which also includes Alexander Skarsgard as Randall Flagg, Whoopi Goldberg as Mother Abagail, James Marsden as Stu Redman, Brad William Henke as Tom Cullen, Daniel Sunjata as Cobb, Amber Heard as Nadine Cross, Odessa Young as Frannie Goldsmith, Jovan Adepo as Larry Underwood, and Henry Zaga as Nick Andros.

The Stand is based on King's popular 1978 novel of the same name and is being written and produced for the screen by Josh Boone and Ben Cavell.

The Stand is expected to premiere on CBS All Access in 2020.
