Watch the Trailer for The Shannara Chronicles, Your Next Magical Fantasy Obsession

Demons are ready to fight back in MTV's new series The Shannara Chronicles, which premieres in January.

The network debuted a new trailer for the new fantasy epic at New York Comic-Con on Saturday, offering a first look at all the danger, action and adventure the highly anticipated drama has in store.

The Shannara Chronicles, based on Terry Brooks' book series, is set thousands of years in the future with the fate of the world on the shoulders of three heroes: Wil, who is half-human, half-elf; Amberle, an Elvin princess; and Eretria, a human rover. When a magical tree, the Ellcrys, begins to die, it's up to the three of them to fight an army of demons.

The Shannara Chronicles, which premieres with a special two-hour episode on Tuesday, Jan. 5 at 10/9c, stars John Rhys-Davies, Manu Bennett, Austin Butler, Poppy Drayton and Ivana Baquero.
