This is Marvelous news: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is back for Season 2 on Wednesday, Dec. 5, Amazon announced Wednesday. The streaming service also released a trailer for the dramedy series that follows Midge Maisel's (Rachel Brosnahan) adventures in stand-up comedy in 1950s New York.
Maisel cleaned up at the Emmys last month — the first season won Comedy Series, Lead Actress for Brosnahan, Supporting Actress for Alex Borstein and Writing and Directing for creator Amy Sherman-Palladino — so expectations are high for Season 2. In the second season, things get harder for Midge after her initial comedic triumph at the Gaslight Cafe, because being a successful comic is hard work and she's still dealing with the fallout from her takedown of phony hack comic Sophie Lennon (Jane Lynch). Plus, the pressure to come out to her family about what she's doing is taking its toll.
All episodes of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 2 start streaming Friday, Dec. 5 on Amazon Prime.
