Here's When The L Word: Generation Q Premieres

Showtime's iconic drama is almost back

The hotly anticipated sequel to The L Wordfinally has a premiere date. Showtime announced Friday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour that The L Word: Generation Q will debut Sunday, Dec. 8 at 10/9c.

The eight-episode sequel to the iconic drama series, which first aired on Showtime from 2004 to 2009, will reunite original stars Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moennig, and Leisha Hailey. Generation Q picks up with Bette (Beals), Shane (Moennig), and Alice (Hailey) as they "experience love, heartbreak, sex, setbacks, and success in L.A."

The trio will be joined by "a new generation of diverse, self-possessed LGBTQIA characters," including Dani Nùñez (Arienne Mandi), Micah Lee (Leo Sheng), Finley (Jacqueline Toboni), Sophie Suarez (Rosanny Zayas), and Gigi (Sepideh Moafi).

Guest stars include Brian Michael, Stephanie Allyne, Olivia Thirlby, Fortune Feimster, and Latarsha Rose.

Original series creator Ilene Chaiken is returning as executive producer alongside new showrunner Marja-Lewis Ryan. The pilot of Generation Q will be directed by Steph Green. The series is currently in production on eight episodes in Los Angeles.

The L Word: Generation Q premieres Sunday, Dec. 8 at 10/9c on Showtime.
