Just tell us already!

The Giftedhas hinted more than a few times that though the X-Men have mysteriously disappeared in its story, they still have a bit of a presence, namely Thunderbird (Blair Redford). But what exactly is his history with the world's most famous mutants?

The first season of The Gifted revealed the X-Men put Thunderbird in charge of the underground resistance movement that found, saved and relocated mutants before they could be arrested and locked up. Beyond that, we don't know much about his origins other than that he's former military. According to Jamie Chung, who plays Thunderbird's girlfriend Blink, we'll be getting a few more clues about the character's backstory early on in Season 2, which will find families and lovers torn apart by the conflict between two mutant factions.

"[You'll get] real insight to something really quiet and intimate about the [Thunderbird and Blink]," teases Chung, who notes that the couple will be very domesticated when the show returns. "In Episode 3, lots of things are revealed about his past."

Fox's 2018-2019 Fall TV Lineup: Everything You Need to Know

Are we finally going to find out when and how the X-Men disappeared? Or will we learn why they decided to put Thunderbird in charge of the Underground? Here's hoping, because by the looks of the Season 2 trailer, mutant politics are at an all-time low and in serious need of help.

The Gifted premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 8/7c on Fox.
