Amazon's The Boys is a scathing criticism of superhero and corporate culture. It's also ridiculously violent, gory, puerile, and gross.

The series, which debuted July 26 to very positive reviews, props up its over-the-top world of superheroes becoming criminals and puppets for mega-corporations with outrageous scenes, such as a slow-motion sequence of one of the main characters' girlfriends exploding when a superhero with super-speed accidentally runs through her, reducing her to a gooey pulp while her boyfriend Hughie (Jack Quaid) is left covered in her muck and holding her hands... just her severed hands.

It's a statement early on in the first episode that tells the viewer that they won't quite be prepared for what's to come. But there was one scene that made Amazon say, "Whoa, whoa, whoa, pal. We can't do that."

In a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything, in which fans can ask celebrities anything they want), The Boys co-creator Eric Kripke described the one scene that Amazon cut from the show because it thought Kripke went too far.

In the scene, Homelander (Antony Starr), the cocky version of Captain America in this universe, was standing on a — well, let's just let Kripke describe it (NSFW language):

"There was ONE SCENE that Amazon said FUCK NO, you have to cut," Kripke wrote when asked what scene was cut that he wish had stayed in. "I couldn't quite understand why considering everything else we have in the show, but: Homelander, after being dressed down by Stilwell in episode 2, was standing on one of the Chrysler building Eagles. He pulled his pants down and started jerking off, mumbling 'I can do whatever I want' over and over again until he climaxed all over New York City. We shot it! Oh my God, Anthony was the BEST in that scene. Amazon seemed to think it wasn't necessary. I thought it told me something about his psyche. To be clear, they've been great, that may have been the ONLY fight I lost in Season 1."

Let's see it, Amazon!

The Boys is now streaming on Amazon Prime. The series has already been renewed for Season 2.
