There's still a few months before Season 6 of Teen Wolf premieres, but the first photo of Stiles (Dylan O'Brien) appeared on Entertainment Weekly Friday morning, increasing excitement for the next round of adventures with the McCall pack.
However, creator Jeff Davis gave an ominous setup for next season. "Stiles is a big part of the season because a lot of this season's mystery revolves around him," he told EW. "We're going to see just what Stiles' friendship means to Scott, Lydia, and Malia. We're going to see why exactly he's Scott's best friend, what it means that he's Malia's human anchor, and what his will-they-or-won't-they relationship is with Lydia."
Why would everyone need to evaluate their relationship with Stiles if he wasn't in danger? The comments have the Teen Wolf fan community believing that Stiles will go missing in Season 6.
We think the same thing. While there wasn't a question of whether O'Brien would return next season, it was up in the air how big a part he could play since he would also be filming The Maze Runner: The Death Cure. That became even more unclear after he was injured on the set of Death Cure in the spring.
TVGuide.com learned earlier this year that the injury would not affect O'Brien's status on Teen Wolf since the show's production had already worked out a schedule around The Maze Runner. O'Brien's scenes were filmed in advance and banked to be edited into the season later. That adds more credence to the theory that O'Brien has a lot of scenes alone — perhaps with a kidnapper? — and will be separated from the pack when Season 6 returns.
Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey also adds fuel to the fire with his comments to EW. "It's so cool what we do. You fall in love with Stiles every episode. It really makes you think of all the cool sh-- that we've done with Stiles and Scott over the past few years, so it's a really reminiscent season," he says
