Syfy's Helix Casts Wings' Steven Weber in Major Recurring Role

The second season of Syfy's Helix is starting to take flight with the casting of Wings alum Steven Weber.

According to Deadline.com, Weber has joined the Ronald D. Moore drama in a major recurring role. He will play Brother Michael, the charismatic (aren't they always?) leader of a cult who's intent on creating a Utopian society.

Helix Season 2 will see the doctors of the Centers for Disease Control, on whom the show centers, investigating a possible disease outbreak that leads them to a mysterious island inhabited by this cult. However, in addition to being a cult leader, Weber's character is also a first-class geneticist.

Weber also currently stars on ABC Family's Chasing Life and TNT's Murder in the First.
