Cheers! Sweetbitter has been renewed for Season 2 at Starz.

The sensual, visual series premiered in May for a quick six-episode first season. It's based on Stephanie Danler's bestselling novel of the same name and follows Tess (Ella Purnell), a young 20-something who makes the impromptu decision to move to New York and has a sexual and emotional awakening when she begins work as a waitress at an upscale restaurant. The first season only depicted Tess' first two weeks in the city and training at a classy restaurant in the heart of Manhattan while Danler's book spans an entire year of Tess' adventure in the city, giving us a hint at what's to come in Season 2.

Hell Yes! Starz Renews Vida for Season 2

"Season 1 gave audiences a taste of the characters and backstory of an upscale New York restaurant, leaving them wanting more - which we will deliver with a second helping of Sweetbitter," said Starz boss Chris Albrecht in a statement. "The immersion of the audience into the world in and around the restaurant will deepen as the series looks further into the complexities of Tess' awakening and the lives of her new friends and colleagues in the second season."

Danler's book was applauded for its vivid imagery, allowing readers to experience Tess' new world through food metaphors and rich, descriptive language. The series compensated for Danler's words with beautiful shots of plated meals and close-ups to bring viewers along for Tess' journey.

Season 1 of Sweetbitter can be streamed on Starz with a subscription.
