The Scottish singer, who rose to worldwide fame on YouTube after her Britain's Got Talentaudition stunned the judges, cut her performance of "O Holy Night" short on The ViewTuesday. As she approaches the song's chorus, Boyle's voice audibly cracks and she grimaces.
A few moments later, Boyle stopped completely. "I'm sorry, I had a bit of a frog in my throat," she said.
Co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd rushed to the stage and quickly tried to reassure Boyle. "Oh my gosh, Susan, there is something of an angel that comes out when you open your mouth," Shepherd said.
On Wednesday's show, the ladies continued to sympathize with Boyle, who they said was suffering from a cold. "We want Susan Boyle to know she has an open invitation to come back anytime," Goldberg said.
