Spoiler Alert: The following reveals the outcome of Wednesday's episode of Survivor.
Hours after being renewed for two more seasons, Survivorproved why it's TV's longest-running reality competition series.
After being booted out by his wary Zapatera tribemates last week, returning veteran Russell Hantz had just one more chance to bounce back and fight his way to his third final Tribal Council. But the Survivor player fans love to love to hate fell short in the domino duel against Matt Elrod.
Even more surprising than Hantz's exit — in just the third episode — and loss in the duel was his tearful reaction. When asked about the waterworks by host Jeff Probst, he lowered his signature hat to cover his eyes. "I respect this game too much to go out this way," he said.
Now the question is: Are you happy to see Russell go? Or are you sad to see one of the show's best players ousted so early? This was the first time his fellow players were aware of his game play ahead of time, so it would have been interesting to see how he would have adjusted his strategy if he made it further. At the same time, Russell's biggest problem was the lack of adjustments he made for his third time playing the game.
Before leaving Nicaragua, Russell also said this would be his last time playing Survivor.
