Did you see that ending coming?

This week's Supernatural finally saw the arrival of the backdoor pilot for Wayward Sisters and if we're going by the blazing opening featuring the pulsing sounds of Halestorm's "I Am The Fire," it's off to a great start. But before Jody (Kim Rhodes) and company can hunt demons in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in their own show, they must assemble to rescue Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) who are lost in an unknown world.

First up is Claire (Kathryn Love Newton), who's been fighting the forces of evil on her own. She poses as a pizza delivery driver to rescue a young girl from a pair of not-so-wisecracking werewolves. Her solo mission is interrupted when Jodi calls to inform her that the Winchesters have been missing for two days. "It's time to come home," Jody tells her. However, home isn't exactly how she left it. Claire's room is now used for storage and Patience (Clark Backo), the psychic granddaughter of Missouri Moseley (Loretta Devine), is wearing her old sweater.

The gang quickly figures out that the Winchesters were searching for Kaia (Yadira Guevara-Prip), who turns up in the same hospital where Alex (Katherine Ramdeen) works. After saving the young dreamwalker from a red-eyed monster with huge hands and a terrible dental plan, Jody and Claire sit her down to figure out what exactly she knows about Sam and Dean.

Though not too keen on remaining in the demon hunting world, Alex puts on a brave face to perform an autopsy on the grotesque creature we soon find out came from the monster world, meaning the portal is still open and they have a shot at saving the Winchesters.

Meanwhile, Dean and Sam are roasting lizards -- which taste nothing like chicken -- over a campfire. Proving that there's no greater love than Dean and his food, Dean makes sure to grab his lizard kebob when they're forced to run from the mysterious, giant creature quickly approaching. Despite their many years fighting the forces of evil, the brothers are quickly captured by a masked figure in black robes who may or may not have appeared in a blockbuster franchise. Kylo Ren, is that you?

Back in our world, Patience receives a vision of more creepy creatures headed their way and the Wayward Sisters are on the move. Realizing the huge threat they're up against, Jody brings in some much-needed reinforcement in the form of Sheriff Donna "I have a huge flamethrower" Hanscum (Briana Buckmaster). While Jody and Donna chase after a lead on the Winchesters at the shipyard, Claire stays behind to protect the rest of the girls.

Over in monster world, Dean, Sam and the dark figure also known as Darth Dickwad (Thanks, Dean) gather for dinner but, unfortunately, it looks like the demon-fighting brothers are the main course. Now would be a good time for Donna to show up with that flamethrower.

However, she and Jody are preoccupied with the red-eyed creatures who have them surrounded. Things aren't looking good for the sheriffs until the rest of the cavalry arrives, including Claire, who has traded in her gun for Donna's flamethrower. She soon discovers the open portal and understands what she must do next: go through it and find Sam and Dean. She even gets the okay from Jody who spent the entire episode trying to convince the arrogant hunter to realize she's not invincible.

Claire's search for the missing brothers doesn't take long and she's able to free them, but not without a major casualty. As they're all trying to escape, Cloak and Dagger -- aka the masked figure -- catches Kaia with, well, a dagger, and kills her. But Sam, Dean and Claire find their way back to our world so mission accomplished? As a devastated Claire is being consoled in Jody's arms, Patience's vision finally comes true, although not in the way she expected.

With the monsters subdued for now, it's time for Sam and Dean to continue their own mission of finding Jack and their mom in the Bad Place. Meanwhile, the Wayward Sisters will hold down the fort in Sioux Falls and take care of the other creatures that may have crossed through the portal.

Claire decides to stick around, not because she's devastated, but to be with her new family. And as long as Kaia's killer is still out there, she'll make it her mission to find it and end it once and for all. However, that might be easier said than done when she realizes who exactly is underneath the black robe: An alternate version of Kaia.
