Jon Stewart certainly didn't toss President Barack Obama a bunch of softball questions on The Daily Show.
President Obama to appear on Mythbusters
During the 30-minute sit-down Wednesday night, Stewart asked the president how the Democrats' party line went from "very high rhetoric, hope and change" during Obama's campaign to "Please, baby, one more chance" in just two years.
"Are you disappointed in how it's gone?" Stewart asked the president directly. Obama, whose appearance on the show comes less than a week before the Nov. 2 congressional elections, defended himself and his party by saying he was warned that it wasn't going to be an easy ride.
"When I won and we started the transition ... a whole bunch of my political folks came up and said, 'You know what? Enjoy this now, because two years from now, folks are going to be frustrated.' And that is, in fact, what's happened," Obama said. "I look over the last 18 months, and I say we've prevented a second Great Depression. We've stabilized the economy; an economy that's was shrinking is now growing. We've got nine months of consecutive private sector job growth ... and we have done things that some folks don't even know about."
Stewart seized the opportunity to poke fun at Obama's latter comment. "Are you planning a surprise party for us, filled with jobs and health care?," Stewart joked.
