The Steven Universe Movie Musical Adds Chance the Rapper

The anticipated Steven Universe movie just got a lot more star power and a lot more musical. Cartoon Network announced on Thursday that the film will now be a full-blown musical. And as if that wasn't exciting enough, Chance the Rapper will not only create original songs in collaboration with creator Rebecca Sugar, but will serve as a co-executive producer on the project.

In addition to Chance, Steven Universe The Movie will feature original songs from Aimee Mann, Estelle, Gallant, and more. Cartoon Network also announced the all-star lineup of cast members in the film will include Patti LuPone, Uzo Aduba, Christine Ebersole, Estelle, Charlyne Yi, and Toks Olagundoye.

The first Steven Universe film will be packed with music and find Steven having to tackle his toughest obstacle yet when a new threat arrives in Beach City. The film will premiere on Cartoon Network this fall, with a DVD and soundtrack being released later this year.
