His days on The Office are numbered, but Steve Carell is sticking with NBC. The 48-year-old actor has sold a half-hour comedy to the network, Deadline reports.

The project, tentatively titled The Post-Graduate Project, is based on Carell's early days working as a mail carrier in Littleton, Mass. Carell wrote the script for the single-camera comedy, which centers on a small-town post office frequented by a close-knit group of twentysomethings.

Carell will also executive-produce The Post-Graduate Project with Thom Hinkle (from Carell's old stomping grounds at The Daily Show with Jon Stewart). Carell's production company, Carousel Television, is currently in the middle of a three-year deal with Universal Media Studios.

Aside from his Golden Globe-winning performance of Michael Scott, Carell co-wrote 2005's The 40-Year-Old Virgin with Judd Apatow. He has also written for The Office and The Dana Carvey Show.
