David Semel will direct the first episode of Bryan Fuller's new Star Trek series.

The first episode of the much-anticipated reboot will debut on CBS in January 2017, before the show moves to its permanent home on CBS All Access, CBS' streaming service.

Semel previously directed the first episodes of Amazon's critically acclaimed drama The Man in the High Castle, which premiered last fall, and David E. Kelley's upcoming Billy Bob Thorton drama, Goliath. He also has a long history with CBS, directing the pilots of Madame Secretary, Code Black and Person of Interest.
