It's already really hard not to explode with delight when watching Lip Sync Battle - the goofy concept turned phenomenon thanks to over-the-top performances from the likes of Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The show, Spike's most-watched original series in its history with over 4 million viewers a week, has reverberated through culture and created copycats, including Craig Robinson's upcoming Caraoke Showdown.
Now Spike and Nickelodeon are teaming up to keep us OMGing and RTing until we pass out with Lip Sync Battle Jr., which will replicate the concept except - hold on - WITH KIDS. Spike announced it ordered a Lip Sync Battle Jr. special for later this year on Spike and Nickelodeon, with other brands in the Viacom family doing special editions too.
"Lip Sync Battle Jr. will celebrate kids' love of music and comedy featuring the battles viewers have come to know and love with new variety elements designed to let the little ones shine," said executive producers Casey Patterson and Jay Peterson in a joint statement. "The whole Lip Sync Battle family is very excited about developing a new music based, comedy variety format to showcase how much our Lip Sync Battle kids rock! It's all the fun of Lip Sync Battle, only smaller."
No word on a premiere date but, we're dying already anyway.
