The cable news channels — Fox News Channel, CNN, CNBC and MSNBC — will offer full coverage, including before and after Obama speaks.

The president's address led ABC to push its hourlong block of A Charlie Brown Christmas and Prep & Landing to Tuesday, Dec. 8 at the same time (8/7c). Fox will air a 90-minute So You Think You Can Dance(8:30/7:30c) while CBS will scuttle an NCIS repeat. NBC will offer a two-hour The Biggest Loser at 9/8c, skipping an installment of The Jay Leno Show.

The president is expected to propose sending more troops to Afghanistan and outline plans for an eventual withdrawal. Obama is taking to the prime-time airwaves because anything that could be seen as an escalation may be a tough sell.
