Son of Zorn, Fox's upcoming hybrid animated/live-action sitcom, is the story of a warrior from a faraway island in the Pacific Ocean who's come to Orange County, Calif., to reconnect with his son and wife.

Zorn, voiced by Jason Sudeikis, is a fierce, sword-wielding fighter accustomed to slaying beasts, who's now tasked with figuring out how to navigate our banal human world and his mundane job as a soap dispenser salesman. Orange County is a far cry from Zephyria, where everyone and everything is animated, and over the course of the series, Zorn makes us see how bizarre and silly our own world really is. In the series, Zephyria is a real place that exists with its own rules and mores -- much like a foreign country in real life, or like how Toon Town existed in Roger Rabbit.

Of course, for Zorn to have a wife (Edie, played by Cheryl Hines) and a son (Alangulon, Alan for short, played by Johnny Pemberton), he had to have sex with a real person. It's a scenario the Son of Zorn cast (and every fanboy) has considered at least once, and the show's panel during the Television Critics Association fall previews on Monday, they clued us in on who their ideal cartoon hookup would be.

"I've thought about this question since I was 13," said Tim Meadows, who plays Craig, the new bae of Zorn's wife Edie. "It's always been Betty or Veronica." (He settled on Veronica.)

Johnny Pemberton cited an '80s classic. "Cheetara from Thundercats. That's easy. She's a cat."

Hines adopted a more method approach. "I find myself oddly attracted to Zorn," she said. "He's kind of hot. If he doesn't speak and it's just one night..."

Artemis Pebdani, who plays Zorn's new boss Linda, said, "I would like to share kisses with Optimus Prime." She also might do the do with Fred from Scooby-Doo. "The really clean cut one. There's got to be some grime up in there somewhere."

Long after the question had been prompted and the panel was winding down, Tim Meadows had another answer. (Clearly he really had been thinking about this a while.) "Catwoman is a character I would have sex with," he added.

Son of Zorn will air a preview episode Sunday, Sept. 11 at 8/7c on Fox, before moving to its regular time period on Sunday, Sept. 25 8:30/7:30cc.
